Ex Novo Brewing announces releases of Nevermore and Kill the Sun in Cans

Portland and New Mexico's Ex Novo Brewing's annual barrel-aged beers Nevermore and Kill the Sun will be released in 16oz cans this year. Nevermore is the award-winning black barleywine and Kill the Sun is a whiskey barrel-aged Imperial Stout, both previously released in 500ml bottles only. Nevermore drops on Nov. 22nd and Kill the Sun in a classic edition and two variants. Details below.

NEVERMORE

• Black Barleywine brewed with Cocoa Nibs and Smoked Figs. 
• The majority of this year’s blend was aged for a year in Westward Whiskey, with a few casks from Heaven Hill, and De Ponte Cellars Pinot barrels. Notes of vanilla, oak, smoke, caramel, dark fruits, malt and of course whiskey!
• 11.6% ABV
• This beer returns on Friday, November 22nd at both Portland and Beaverton pubs and to our distribution partners. 
• ABV Pub in Hillsboro will host their annual release party on Tuesday, November 26th from 5pm-8pm, with members from our brew team and other Ex Novo staff in attendance.

KILL THE SUN

We went big with Kill the Sun this year, brewing up two variants of our Whiskey Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout in addition to the Classic.

“Classic”

• KTS “Classic” is the beer we’ve released every year under the KTS brand.
• Aged for a year in Westward Whiskey, Jack Daniels, & Heaven Hill barrels. 
• Notes of roasty dark chocolate, coffee, molasses, vanilla, marshmallow, graham cracker, and smooth whiskey. 
• 12% ABV

Variant #1

• KTS “Mocha”
• KTS Classic blended with light roast, natural processed Ethiopian coffee beans from Case Study Coffee Roasters and Ghanian cacao nibs from TCHO Chocolate.  Put a little whiskey in your mocha! 
• 12% ABV

Variant #2

• KTS “Horchata”
• KTS Classic blended with vanilla and cinnamon.  Notes of roasty dark chocolate, cinnamon, vanilla, coffee, molasses, marshmallows, and graham crackers.
